The jihadists of the Islamic State organization have put their sights on the European Football Championship although there is no specific evidence, for now at least, that planned an attack, warned today the head of Germany's domestic intelligence agency.
In statements made Hans Georg Maasen, head of the Federal Office of Germany for the Protection of the Constitution, after the head of the French secret service also noted the risk that the jihadists are preparing a series of attacks against places where large crowds gather in France.
"We know that the Islamic State has put in his sights the Euro 2016» noted Maasen the Rheinische Post newspaper.
O He added that he has no concrete evidence of planning an attack, but there is a "sufficient noise, a large number of indications" that the Islamic State, al Qaeda or its offshoot, the Front Al Nosra want to commit attacks against western targets.
About 2.5 million fans are expected to attend from around the 51 football matches that will involve 24 teams at Euro 2016. As part of the event have made "fan zones" designed to gather followers and track races by huge screens in various points of cities.
