Extraordinarily Iraq into the American. Defense, for now recapture of Mosul
The American Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter landed today in Baghdad, where he will pay a surprise visit to discuss the company recapture of Mosul, in northern Iraq, the Islamic State.
During this one-day visit, the head of the Pentagon is expected to meet with the military commander of the international coalition, the American General Stephen Townsend, but with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadan.
"We will meet with the prime minister and will receive the appreciation of where we are in business in Mosul," said a senior US official, who briefed reporters before the trip.
"It is the beginning of the operation. Face positively the way things started, especially with the complex nature of this operation, "he added.
The US official explained that during Carter's meeting with Abbado may discuss "scenarios for the next day" in Mosul, including humanitarian aid, the stabilization and city planning administration.
"This is recognition of the fact that success in Mosul actually means more than the military part of the business," he explained.
Meanwhile the Iraqi army today launched a business for the recapture of Caracas, a Christian town near Mosul, the military announced.
The Caracas, which is about 20 kilometers southeast of Mosul, abandoned by its inhabitants in 2014 when the IR marched in the region.
Special forces of the Iraqi army recaptured earlier this week Bartels, a Christian village north of Caracas.
The business for the recapture of Mosul began Monday and carried out with the support of the international coalition in the US. Expected to be the biggest battle that has been conducted in Iraq after the US intervention in 2003.
The Iraqi army in Mosul is advanced from the south and Kurdish peshmerga fighters keep fronts in the east and the north.
