Eb. Nowotny: The IMF is no longer necessary to stabilize the economy of Greece

Negative on the participation of the IMF in the Greek program appears Ewald Nowotny, a member of the ECB Governing Council, saying that the issue of the Greek economy Europeans have to handle alone. The statement of the Austrian Central Banker is in stark contrast with the position expressed in the morning the commander of the Bundesbank, Jens Weidmann who said that the IMF is a necessary part of rescue programs.
In an interview with the newspaper Die Presse Mr. Nowotny was asked to comment on the controversy about his talks with Paul Thomsen Delia Velkouleskou leaked to WikiLeaks. The president of the Austrian Central Bank, refused to make any comment and even questioning the authenticity of the conversation.
However rushed to report on developments in the Greek issue, stating that "the IMF is no longer necessary for the stabilization of the Greek economy." Mr. Nowotny also said that this is a problem that Europeans can solve themselves and referring to debt said the haircut will not offer more in the country. "Greece has made tremendous progress," said Austrian central banker and commented that the latest developments are contrary to a positive development for Greece.
