At least 130 arrests in France in episodes sidelined demonstrations
Riots, arrests, blockades: violence marred France today new demonstrations held high school students and students who took to the streets to protest against the reform of labor relations.
In Paris, police clashed earlier today with about 50 young hooded, armed with batons, who slipped into the crowd of demonstrators.
The police made extensive use of tear gas to repel groups of young demonstrators who were throwing stones, glass bottles and eggs and chanted the slogan "Police everywhere, justice nowhere."
The law enforcement forces then proceeded in 130 arrests.
Rennes (west), where the authorities have banned any gathering and march to the historic city center, hundreds of demonstrators occupied the tracks near the city railway station, thus interrupting the traffic.
In Havre (west), where 1,200 people marched, also canceled ferry services and passenger ships in such conditions.
While the protest movement has now entered the fifth week, thousands of people lined the streets of the French capital shouting the slogan "high school pupils, students, unemployed and employed, together united we must fight all together united have to defeat."
Along the way, Joe, 23, explained that protests against the reform plans of the code of labor relations, as well as "in the living conditions and the unacceptable world offer us."
