Greece must stand on its feet as quickly as possible, "said German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Wednesday from the floor of Parliament, which meets to approve the third Greek support program, noting that the doses resulting from the new agreement "shall be released step by step every time you meet the obligations undertaken by the country."
"We help Greece to get on the right track. If the country honoring its commitments and fully implement the program, then only can there be development of the Greek economy, "added the German finance minister.
Wolfgang Schäuble called on the German Members to vote for the aid program for Greece, noting that when the Greek Parliament approved already, much of the planned measures, "it would be irresponsible not to give Greece the possibility of a new beginning" .
"If you do not pay this money, the Greek economy will not be able to get ahead," said Mr. Schaeuble and stressed that the disbursement of the assistance will be made in installments, with the assurance of the implementation of the necessary commitments. He expressed the belief that ultimately the IMF will decide on participation in the program and appeared confident that there will be consultation in respect of Greek debt sustainability. He ruled out, however, again the potential "haircut" but spoke of margins on the extension of the loan repayment period.
German Finance Minister attached particular importance, both in need of rapid recapitalization of Greek banks, in order to gradually eliminate capital controls and running the economy, and the Fund of privatization, the timetable and the program which is expected Greek proposal in October .
"There can be no guarantee that everything will work in the best way," admitted Mr. Schaeuble, but stressed that if Greece its promises and fully implement the program, then only can the Greek economy to grow. "The opportunity exists, let's hope that they will seize," he said and explained that the German government thought very carefully the pros and cons, solidarity in Europe, but also responsibility towards other States participating.
"For many reasons we need a Europe that can kinithei- and that includes the exhibits and solidarity. It was not easy for me to arrive at this decision. This is why I urge you to vote ", concluded Mr. Schaeuble.
