Austria: Implement stricter controls by 1 June
Austria will implement reinforced border controls over the Brenner to Italy from June 1 as part of measures taken by the Vienna towards immigration crisis, said today the Defence Minister Hans Peter Ntoskozil.
Given the fact that the "Balkan corridor" is closed, the Vienna stipulates that refugee and migrant arrivals in Italy to double by 2015 to reach 300,000.
Asked about whether Austria is planning to erect fence on its border with Italy, the Defence Minister said that the key issue is "the implementation of border management system similar to the Spilfilnt system" on the border of Austria to Slovenia.
Determining the exact date of implementation of stricter controls in vital European passing the connection path of the south to the north of Europe will depend on the number of migrants, and the progress in the establishment of a new border control center explained Ntoskozil.
