At least 12 injured in the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Japan
Many people were injured and at least 19 houses collapsed from the very strong vibration magnitude of 6.5 degrees that hit southwestern Japan, an area that hosts many nuclear power plants.
At least 12 people were injured in the province of Kumamoto on the island of Kyushu, said government spokesman Giosichinte Sougka. The authorities have mobilized 350 soldiers to help in the search and rescue operation.

The first quake occurred at 21.26 local time (15.26 GMT). This was followed by several aftershocks, one of which was magnitude 5.7 degrees (at 22.07 local time) and another 6.4 degrees (midnight local time, 18.00 GMT), said the Meteorological Service of Japan.
The agency warned that it expects many aftershocks for at least one week and the government spokesman urged residents to stay calm.
The NHK also spoke of three fires and a rapid train derailment in Shinkansen. The train was not carrying passengers but all services were stopped to inspect the lines, as almost always happens in Japan when earthquakes occur. Reported also power cuts.
