Syria: Rebels shot down fighter plane in Hama province

The Syrian rebels and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that rebel forces downed military aircraft in western Syria, and there are conflicting reports about whether it was shot down by a missile or anti-aircraft fire.

The Observatory said that guerrilla organization broke the aircraft in the province of Hama firing two thermal rockets and that probably was a Syrian fighter plane. But the guerrilla organization Jai Al Nasr argues that broke the aircraft with anti-aircraft fire.

There has been no announcement of the Syrian armed forces.

The forces of the Syrian rebels have shot down during the conflict Syrian aircraft flak. They have asked their international supporters, such as Saudi Arabia, sending anti-aircraft missiles to cope Syrian and Russian aircraft. But they have stated that such weapons not to have been sent so far, because of concerns that may end up in the hands of organizations like the Islamic State.
