The chairman of the policy of the Socialist Group, Sergey Stanishev said in a statement after the summit of leaders of the Socialist Parties attended and the Greek prime minister as an observer, that the return process of irregular migrants in Turkey should not in any way questioning the rights or safety and be compatible with international and European law.
Moreover, he expressed the solidarity of the group with Greece and urged EU member states to show "humanity" and "shared responsibility" of addressing the refugee crisis.
Finally, he pointed out that Turkey's accession process should not be linked to the refugee crisis. "We need to proceed with the accession negotiations on the basis of our values and ensuring respect for press freedom, human rights, independence of the judiciary and other criteria that must be met for all countries wishing to join the EU" , concluded S..
