Skopje: Prepare to "seal" the border permanently



The competent governmental Macedonian Committee for management of the refugee crisis is expected to meet this evening in Skopje in order to consider the new data, following Slovenia's decisions, Croatia and Serbia for additional restrictions on refugee crossings which essentially they have led to "seal" the Balkan corridor.

Macedonian media reported that the government was Macedonian Committee will examine the new situation created by the restrictions on refugee flows from other countries of the Balkan corridor and may decide to close the refugees crossing the buffer zone between Gevgelija and Idomeni least until the EU Summit on 17 and 18 March.

"In the last 2-3 days there were refugees leaving the country to Serbia and therefore did not exist and entry of new refugees from the border with Greece," said the Macedonian Interior Ministry.

At the same time, 1,050 immigrants, mainly from Afghanistan, and remain trapped for several days in the refugee reception center in Tabanovci, near the Macedonian border with Serbia because Serbian authorities do not allow them to enter the Serbian territory. Other 450 refugees from Syria and Iraq are for several days locked in the neutral zone between Macedonia and Serbia.
