A spokesman for the Central Command of US Forces in the Middle East (CentCom) said today that the US dropped yesterday with parachutes ammunition for the Syrian rebels fighting the IK in northern Syria. It was a "successful" operation, he described as Colonel Patrick Ryder in a statement. The US sent in this manner ammunition "in Syrian Arab groups, whose leaders have been checked" Washington said.
The operation was carried out by transport aircraft C-17 of the US Air Force. One official told AFP that cast a total of "50 tonnes of ammunition", confirming information which had spread from the American CNN network.
The communication does not specify which groups received these munitions.
On Friday, the Pentagon announced that it is changing strategy following the failure of the education program of moderate Syrian rebels and instead of trying to organize entire new units will provide equipment to existing groups, after checking their leaders.
