Strict conditions on any new aid to Athens .Verolino
Germany today brought pressure to impose strict conditions on a new Greek assistance agreement, arguing that the release of further installments of aid must be linked to the progress made by Athens to reform and noting the possibility that the final agreement be delayed.
"It's reasonable belief us- -this is to determine the size of the first installment by the extent of implementation of reforms," said the spokesman of the Ministry of Finance Giourgk Vaisgkermper during tactical awareness of journalists.
"This means that financial assistance will depend on strict conditions," he said, adding that Germany wants an agreement that includes an ambitious financial plan, a credible strategy for sustainable privatization and pension reform.
Stressing that Germany is not participating in the negotiations under way between Athens and its international creditors, the Vaisgkermper said Berlin will take time after any agreement to examine the results of the talks, which will then be put to a vote in parliament .
According to Vaisgkermper, could possibly lose the deadline of August 20, when Athens has to repay debt to the European Central Bank. "If you allow a first installment of ESM in August, then you should discuss new bridge loan," he said.
