One of the successful candidates for the leadership of the second strongest party in Finland told media in his homeland today that if he wins, will launch a campaign for the country to leave the eurozone and the European Union.
The Jussi Halla-COD, MEP and staunch opponent of immigration is one of the two prevalent candidate to succeed Foreign Minister Timo Soini, who will leave the leadership of the Eurosceptic party of Finns in June.
"The political reasons for leaving, especially the euro, is very clear, and economic reasons are also clear. I think this is something we must actively call to the party, "said Hala-COD during an interview with the Finnish news agency STT.
Political analysts anticipate that the victory of the Hala-COD will signaled the end of the coalition of three parties in Finland, while pushing the Finns party; the former party the True Finns; deeper into political territory of the right populism.
The Hala-RDA has said it will run the party while remaining in the European Parliament and will take ministerial chair if Finns party remained in government.
