Concern Merkel to Turkey before her meeting with Erdogan


On the verge of her visit to Turkey, German Chancellor Angela Merkel assessed that "certain developments" in that country are a source of "serious concern" and promised that he intended to affect these differences of opinion "both in private as well as publicly."

"It is understood that certain developments in Turkey are a source of grave concern," Merkel stressed in an interview published in today's edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS), with particular reference to the "great concern" caused by the lifting of parliamentary immunity in Turkey , a decision on that will have "serious consequences" for the civilian personnel of the Kurds.

The chancellor will meet tomorrow with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also participate in the session on humanitarian aid. She emphasizes that with Erdogan, whose political management increasingly concerned Europeans, seeking to discuss "all important issues."
