Humanitarian organizations were allowed access to the besieged city Mantagia

Faced with international condemnation, the Syrian government today gave its approval to the United Nations to distribute humanitarian aid to the city Mantagia, which besieges the Syrian army for six months resulting in 42,000 residents to be on the verge of starvation.

As reported by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the UN, the 20,000 residents of the two Shiite communities and foie Kefragia in Idlib province, which are in a state of siege by rebel organizations, will also receive humanitarian aid.

"The UN welcomes the approval of the Syrian government to allow access to Mantagia, foie and Kefragia and preparing to distribute humanitarian aid (there) in the coming days" refers to the UN announcement.

According to OCHA, "about 42,000 residents in Mantagia are on the verge of starvation and the United Nations has received credible information about people who are dying of hunger or were killed trying to leave the city."

The last time the convoys with humanitarian aid entered the cities and Mantagia Zampantani and foie villages and Kefragia was the October 18.

Since then "the access to the city Mantagia was impossible, despite many calls for it," according to the UN.
