Lavrov: We can not rebuild our relations with the US

Russia wants to repair relations with the US, but can not make it as the government of Barack Obama supports the economic sanctions imposed on Moscow's role in the conflict in Ukraine, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in interview published today in "La Repubblica".

The US and EU imposed sanctions on Russia after the annexation by the latter of the Crimean peninsula last year. Also because Moscow supports such as accuse the separatist rebellion in eastern Ukraine where over 9,000 people have lost their lives.

"As long as the vice of Obama Joe Biden toured in Europe recommending the continuation of sanctions against us without taking account of the way they behave in Kiev due to the pressures of Westerners, we can not reach an understanding," says Lavrov Italian newspaper, according to the Athens agency.

He and Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry next week to discuss the conflicts in Ukraine and Syria.

A combination of Russian, American and Arab forces currently involved in Syria would be sufficient to defeat the jihadists of the Islamic State, but such a coalition can not be achieved without an agreement on the future of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad added himself.

"If the partners in a possible coalition continue to seek to set a date to quit Assad backdrop, we will answer that this is contrary to law and democracy," he said Lavrov, while the US and soynites Arab allies claim the departure of Assad.

The Russian minister also noted that it knows where it is the leader of the Islamic State Abu Bakr Al Bagntanti, but added that he has information on penetration core of this jihadist organization in the army of Libya.

The west of the past decision to remove the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was a mistake, he underlined, while adding that Russia supports a UN plan for the return of stability in Libya "even though it is risky."

The summit to be held in Rome on December 13 to promote an agreement in Libya is important, although it will not solve the whole problem goes further saying Sergei Lavrov.
