Neither the Syrian opposition nor the rebels were invited to Vienna
Neither the primary organization of the political opposition or representatives of the armed opposition have been invited to the international talks on the war in the country, said an opposition politician and a leader of the rebels.
Meanwhile the Syrian government in Damascus has not yet made any official comment on the meeting tomorrow in Vienna bringing together about a dozen countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran, which support opposing parties in the conflict.
The Syrian opposition has opposed the participation of Iran in the talks -the first time they participated in such a meeting for Syria- because of military support provided to President Bashar al-Assad.
George Sabra, a member of the Syrian National Coalition, told Reuters that the non-invitation of Syrian showing "lack of seriousness". Asked whether the coalition has been invited to the talks, he said: "There it happened."
"It's a big weak point of the meeting, because they will discuss issues of the Syrians in their absence."
Tehran and Moscow provide crucial support to the government of Assad, while their regional rivals, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, require the withdrawal, according to the Athens agency.
The Bashar al-punch from the Army of Yarmuk, a group associated with the Free Syrian Army, said representatives of the armed opposition have not been invited to the meeting in Vienna.
"Iran is part of the problem rather than the solution and participation in the meeting will prove to the world," said Punch. "The meeting was accepted as Saudi Arabia and Turkey to expose Iran."
The Sabra of the Syrian National Coalition reiterated its opposition to the participation of Iran, saying that it can not play a mediating role. "The officers are fighting every day to fronts in Syria," he said.
