In Brussels Erdogan for refugee


Addressing the refugee crisis will be the focus of today's meeting of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with the President of the EU Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels. Shortly before the visit Erdogan, German MEPs called on Turkey to impose more stringent controls at its borders.

O Turkish president criticized the approach of the European Union to address the refugee crisis. The Turkish leader boasted about a record number of refugees has welcomed Turkey, two million people from neighboring Syria and Iraq and contrasted with the number of refugees crossing the European borders.

"While we are hosting 2.2 million refugees, Europe as a whole is home to fewer than 250,000 refugees in total," said Erdogan during a meeting, which was broadcast on television, with Belgian business leaders.

After meeting with Tusk and Juncker will be statements and a brief press conference.

At 19:00 will be followed by dinner at the EU Council building which will be attended by Erdogan and the presidents of the EU, the European Commission and the European Parliament.
