Pope Francis arrived in Cuba for four-day visit, the first stop of a journey that will then lead the United States.
In Latin American origin pontiff greeted at the airport by Cuban leader Raul Castro, thanking him for the assistance of the diplomatic approach with the US, while condemning the US embargo and the occupation of the base of Guantanamo by the USA.
Pope Francis for his part called on the Cuban leader the "inside" to the Church to carry out its work in conditions of freedom in Cuba and urged Washington and Havana to advance in their approach.
Baptized Catholic, like his brother Fidel, Raul Castro has received a Jesuit education. Months ago he said to the Pope that perhaps to start praying again, returning to the Church.
