EU: Extend for six months sanctions against Russia
H European Union decided Monday to extend by six months, until March 15, 2016, sanctions against Russian officials and leaders of eastern rebel Ukraine because of their involvement in the conflict. "An examination of the situation did not justify a change in the sanctions regime, or the list of persons and bodies subject to restrictive measures," he said in a statement the Foreign Ministers' Council.
Sanctions against 149 people and 37 organizations or companies maturing today, September 15.
Ukraine, NATO, the EU and the US accuse Russia that has sent regular army and weapons to support their separatist rebels fighting the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region of Donbass. Since conflicts have killed more than 6,800 people in 16 months. Moscow denies any involvement in the war.
