At 25.2% the unemployment rate in June, according to ELSTAT
In 25.2% reached the unemployment rate in the country in June this year and has declined from 26.6% in June last year, but increased, albeit marginally from 25% last May. The number of unemployed amounted to 1,204,844 persons, with the unemployment rate among young people up to 24 years to fall below 50%.
According to the monthly Labour Force Survey ELSTAT, the unemployed decreased by 81 474 persons compared with June 2014 (down 6.3%) and 2.609 persons compared with May 2015 (down 0.2%).
The number of employed was estimated at 3,584,973 people. The number of employed increased by 40 395 persons compared with June last year (up 1.1%) and decreased by 42 125 persons compared to May this year (down 1.2%).
Economically inactive (people who are not working or looking for work) amounted to 1,204,844 persons and decreased by 7806 persons compared with June 2014 (down 0.2%), and increased by 41 158 persons; a relative; with the May 2015 (up 1.3%).
In women, the unemployment rate (29.5% in June 2015 from 30.6% in June 2014) remains significantly higher than in men (21.7% from 23.5%).
Age, the highest unemployment rate recorded in groups of 15-24 years (48.3% in June 2015 from 49.4% in June 2014) and 25-34 years (32.1% from 35.2%). Here, the 35-44 years (22.4% from 22.8%), 45-54 years (19.7% from 20.9%), 55-64 years (17.2% from 17.4%) and 65-74 years (10% from 11.6%).
At the level of decentralized administrations of the country, the top three are Thessaly - Central Greece (27.1% in June 2015 from 25.9% in June 2014), Epirus - Western Macedonia (26.7% from 27.2% ) and Attica (25.3% from 27.3%). Here, Macedonia - Thrace (25.2% from 27.5%), Crete (24.3% from 25.8%), the Peloponnese - Western Greece - Ionian Islands (24.1% from 26.4% ) and Aegean (18.4% from 17.8%).
