ANSWER-KOLAFOS EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO TURKEY IN QUESTION OF Kefaloyiannis AND ELISE VOZEMPERGK

  Serious concerns about the continuing violations by Turkey of the Greek sovereign rights is the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogkerini following question Manolis K. Kefalogianni and Elise Vozempergk (Chairman and Member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on EU-Turkey relations respectively), in response to the provocative actions of Turkey in the Aegean. The High Representative stressed in its reply that the Council has recorded epaneilimmeva concluded that Turkey should be fully committed to pursue good neighborly relations and peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with the UN Charter. In this context, the High Representative calls on Turkey to avoid any kind of threat or action directed against a Member State of the European Union, and any sources of friction and energy that could damage good neighborly relations and the peaceful settlement of disputes. Ms. Mogkerini notes in its response that the European Commission will continue to monitor the issue of flagrant violations by Turkey of the Greek sovereign rights and will continue to underline the need for respect by Turkey of the principle of good neighborly relations in all relevant contacts with the Turkish authorities. Recall that two Greek MEPs deposited the relevant question to the European Commission in late February when Turkey by NOTAM (notice to aeronaftilomenous) attempted to commit, from March 2nd until December 31, 2015, a huge area for shooting range with live ammunition , in the Aegean region.
