Erdogan: Israel will suffer most of the consequences of the battle for Temenos Square

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today called on Muslims from around the world to "visit" and "protect" Jerusalem after the bloody clashes that broke out in recent days between Palestinian protesters and Israeli security forces following Israel's decision To place metal detectors at the entrance to Temenos Square.

"I would like to invite all my fellow citizens and the Muslims of all the world who have the possibility. . . To visit Jerusalem and the al-Aksa Mosque, "Erdogan said, addressing parliamentarians in the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK) in parliament ..." Come and protect Jerusalem all together, "he said.

"Israel, which shows no respect for the mosque al-Aksa and the Dome of the Rock, will suffer the greatest damage," the Turkish president noted.

Earlier this morning, according to a statement by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the authorities decided to remove the detectors and replace them with "smart" monitoring devices.

"We expect Israel to take steps for peace in the region," Erdogan said, commenting on this decision by the Israeli authorities.

He also said he contacted his Israeli counterpart Reuben Riblin and told him that the Muslims visiting the al-Aksa mosque can not be treated as terrorists.

"We can not even accept Jews going to synagogues and treating them as terrorists," he said.
