Spiegel: Sieble-Gabriel's Controversy on the Future of Europe

For the opposition in Germany between the Finance Ministry and the Foreign Ministry about what the future of Europe should be, the Spiegel magazine writes on confidential documents from the German government.
The German finance ministry calls for "structural reforms and fiscal consolidation" for countries like Greece and Portugal "as a precondition for further integration," Spiegel reports. In addition, Mr Schäuble asks for a "firewall" to the European Commission / Commission. We must prevent 'risking its role as guardian of the Treaties by taking on an increasingly important political role on its part'. In addition, "new permanent transfer mechanisms between Member States should be excluded", according to the German magazine.
On the other hand, the foreign ministry is in favor of greater flexibility towards countries that implement reforms. It also proposes "to introduce a" golden rule "in the Stability and Growth Pact, which allows - subject to certain conditions - future investments through state loans", as evidenced by the same documents.
