B. Orbán: The EU is making a mistake threatening Hungary with sanctions

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has today blamed the European Union for its "flawed" strategy of threatening its government with sanctions due to criticism of the respect for freedoms in Hungary.
The European Parliament yesterday called for a country to initiate a sanctions procedure against the country for the first time in the EU, considering that the current situation in Hungary is a "clear risk of a serious violation" of the Union's fundamental values.
This resolution, which was also adopted by almost a third of the conservative MEPs of the PPE group (right) - to which the Hungarian members of the Orban party belong - "shows that all European politics are distorted," the Hungarian PM told Public broadcasting.
"Europe is not Brussels, it is the nation-states (...) and if the nations are not respected by the institutions and those who have the responsibility, it is daunting (...) They depend on us rather than the opposite , This approach as a whole is wrong, the resolution of the European Parliament is the sign of a wrong policy, "Orban added.
