The Minister. EU foreign reiterate that there can be no peace in Syria under the Assad regime


The EU Foreign Ministers today reiterated in Luxembourg on their position that the President of Syria Bashar al-Assad can not remain in power after the completion of the political transition process, days after Washington admitted that the departure of Assad is no longer " priority "of US foreign policy and that it is seeking a new strategy for the settlement of the Syrian conflict.

The US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley specifically said that her country wants to cooperate with Turkey and Russia to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, but to focus on the fate of Bashar al-Assad.

"We always had the same position, I do not believe there is a future for Assad, but it is for the Syrian people to decide," said Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Kenteris who comes to the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
According to a diplomatic source, the communique is expected to adopt the foreign ministers at the end of their monthly meeting, the 28 repeat that "there can be no sustainable peace in Syria under the current regime."
