Fifteen people were shot, and one of them succumbed to his injuries early morning shooting at a nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio, and police said he believes that the incident may have been involved at least two assailants.
The shooting occurred at about 1:00 (8:00 GMT), when hundreds of people were brought to the club Cameo Nightlife, which, according to the police department of Cincinnati, had "many problems" in the past.
"At this point it is unclear exactly what caused the shooting," said Capt Kimberley Williams in briefing televised. "We believe that it was at least two perpetrators were involved."
"Caused chaos when the shooting" occurred, the added Williams.
The suspects fled and police have not their good descriptions, partly because witnesses were not willing to cooperate, in the WCPO Williams said.
Many victims have injuries threatening life, he told the website of the television network, WLWT5, citing the assistant police chief Pol Nontigkeit, who said that hundreds of people were in the nightclub when the shooting erupted.
The authorities have not reported anything yet about the possible motives of the episode, which is marked less than a year after a gunman opened fire in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people. It was the most deadly mass shooting incident in US history.
The Medical Center of the University of Cincinnati was eight people early this morning, said one spokesman at ABC News, but did not specify whether patients were compared with shots in nightclub. It was not possible to have an immediate comment from the hospital representative.
The Cameo Nightlife page on Facebook says makes "preppy Fridays" for students 18 years old and "Saturdays for 21 or more nights and sexy."
