The centrist LGPU becoming the first party in the parliamentary elections in Lithuania
The centrist party Union of Farmers and Greens (LGPU), which had just one seat in the outgoing parliament of Lithuania, was the surprise in the second round of parliamentary elections, winning both the Conservatives and the ruling Social Democratic party, announced the Election Commission.
The LGPU elect 56 MPs (out of 141) and will be the largest party in parliament. The conservative Union for the homeland-Christian occupies the second place with 30 seats in parliament while the Social Democrats of Prime Algkirntas Boutkevitsious come third, with 17 deputies, announced Elena Masvenaite, member of the Commission, after counting of almost all the votes.
