One dead, two injured in explosions at park in Japan
One man was killed and two more were injured today when two almost simultaneous explosions occurred in a park in Japan, such as the fire department said, while the media talked about suicide.
The explosions occurred in the city park Utsunomiya, about 100 kilometers north of Tokyo, which took place a folk art festival shortly after 11:30 (local time, 5:30 GMT), said a spokesman for the local fire department.
"A man was found dead," he said, without giving further details.
The dead man is, as one of the injured, such as broadcast television network NHK, but at present there is other information available to the victims.
An explosion occurred in a parking lot of the park. In images broadcast by the NHK seems a burnt car on which the firemen throw water. The broadcaster reported that a dead body in bad condition found in a bike shop in the park.
The Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper said in the article that explosion occurred in a car and then were wrapped in flames two more. A few minutes later the police found the dismembered body of a man in the park.
According to NHK, two explosions occurred just 200 meters from each other and the police found a piece of paper that seemed to be a suicide note in one of the burnt cars.
The owner of this car was a former member of the Self-Defense Forces (the name of the Japanese Army), whose house was destroyed in Utsunomiya few days earlier by a fire. Authorities have been unable to contact him.
The crime rate in Japan is very small and there are no known organizations conduct violent campaign against the state.
Sometimes improvised explosive devices placed outside US military bases from far left organizations.
