Ten Turkish soldiers killed in alleged attacks Kurdish rebels


Ten members of the Turkish security forces were killed and seven more injured today in two attacks allegedly launched by Kurdish rebels of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in southeast Turkey, according to media.

In Oulountere, in Sirnak province, on Turkey-Iraq border, six soldiers were killed and seven wounded "during gunfire exchange with rebels of PKK" at a checkpoint near a prison, aired late afternoon the Turkish Dogan news agency.

Earlier today, in the province of Mardin, four Turkish soldiers were killed and six injured in alleged attack Kurdish rebels.

"Two soldiers and two village guards (who were recruited to fight Kurdish rebels) were killed and six more wounded in a bomb attack in Mardin province," the East agency.

"A bomb placed PKK terrorists on the road between Kiziltepe and Derrick in Mardin province triggered by the passage of the vehicle carrying security forces," added the agency.

The Turkish military said that "wiped eight PKK fighters" Sunday in an air and ground operation unleashed in Hakkari province, near the Iraqi border.
