At least 15,000 arrests in Turkey for coup attempt
The Turkish authorities have detained more than 15,000 people, of which 10,000 or more are soldiers, after the failed coup attempt of July 15, reported the CNN Turk television network today quoted the interior minister of the country Efkan Ala.
A total of 8.113 people formally charged and awaiting trial, added the broadcaster quoted the minister.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim warned today in an interview on British TV network Sky News, that "there could be new arrests" stating that mass purges after the coup attempt have not been "completed".
"The investigation continues, persons sought (by authorities). There could be new arrests and detention (...). The process has now been completed, "noted the head of the Turkish government during this interview.
