There will be no special treatment "for Britain, says a close associate of Merkel
Britain should not receive special treatment in the negotiation of exit from the European Union said the head of the parliamentary faction of the Christian Democrats (CDU).
"There will be no special treatment, there will be no gifts," said Volker Cowdery, a close associate of Chancellor Angela Merkel in the television network ARD.
Meanwhile, the Cowdery said that Britain is an important economic and trade partner of Germany and that it is vital for the EU to carry out talks with Britain ensuring the continuation of good relations.
Echoing Merkel advocated a more relaxed attitude towards the timing of the invocation of Article 50 of the European Convention of Britain, but said it would be good London to activate Article 50 soon.
