Washington urges the President of Venezuela to initiate a dialogue with the opposition
The White House yesterday expressed deep concern about the deteriorating political situation in Venezuela and urged the President Nicolás Maduro, who has declared "emergency" to proceed with dialogue with the opposition. "It is time the leaders to listen to the different voices in Venezuela and work together to find real solutions," said Josh Earnest, spokesman for the American presidency.
"If this road does not follow it will lead hundreds of thousands if not millions of Venezuelan citizens in a situation even more difficult," he said. The oil-producing country is facing a political, economic and social crisis that seems to deepen each day after the victory of the opposition in the parliamentary elections at the end of 2015
