The Podemos sealed the agreement with the United Left
The Podemos alliance with the United Left for new parliamentary elections on June 26 in Spain. The party is against austerity alliance with its main competitor in the left area, the Izquierda Unida (IU / United Left), and seek together "to again earn the country on behalf of the popular classes," writes El newspaper today pais, and understand the position of the Socialist Party that is second political force in Spain.
The Podemos, founded in 2014, and the United Left, successor of the Communist Party of Spain, already historical characterize the "pre-agreement" reached Monday night.
"We agreed on the essential: we will go together in elections to the win and I expect that our members, like those of IU, to respond to this historic opportunity by participating enthusiastically," said 37-year old leader of Podemos Pablo Iglesias to radio interview.
On Monday, the two parties sealed "a pre-election agreement" which will now be put for approval to their members, while negotiations on many details will be made this week.
The agreement guarantees that the IU (ecologists-communists) will take at least one sixth of seats that the coalition will dislodge in the coming elections. According to their estimates, the alliance can provide about 58 seats in Congress --no to calculate regional parties in Catalonia, Valencia and Galicia, which have worked in the last election with Podemos, and can add their seats at this party again now.
The joint document avoids issues on which the two parties disagree, as the country's participation in NATO or the state change in Spain from monarchy to democracy.
The goal of the agreement is "to regain the country for the popular classes" and "defeated the Popular Party (PP)", say.
