Out of control "the situation in Syria, says John Kerry
The situation in Syria is "in many ways out of control" considered today the US Secretary of State John Kerry, speaking to reporters after his meeting in Geneva with the special envoy of the United Nations Stafa de Mistoura.
Kerry said that it has agreed with Russia to strengthen the monitoring of compliance with the ceasefire in Syria, with the addition of other observers who will work on a daily basis from Geneva. He said he hopes that in the coming hours or until tomorrow will clarify the situation regarding the restoration of the ceasefire.
"Both sides, the opposition and the regime, have helped to create this chaos and hard work in the coming hours to try to restore the cessation of hostilities," he added.
Later today the US Treasury will have a telephone conversation on the issue of the ceasefire in Syria with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
