Iran's special adviser of Lagarde aimed contacts and discussions on "economic developments"

David Lipton, second in rank in the hierarchy of the International Monetary Fund, began yesterday a two-day visit to Iran, where he will hold a series of contacts and discussions on "economic developments", stated the IMF statement. Discussions will focus on the economic situation and economic policy initiatives that could take Iran after removing part of sanctions against the Islamic Republic, thanks to the Tehran agreement with the major powers on the Iranian nuclear program, which concluded in July 2015 and entered into force at the beginning of the year.

The Lipton is expected to meet with senior Iranian government, private sector representatives, bankers and academics. The IMF is currently not active in any way in Iran, except a statistical and technical assistance offered, explained a representative of the institution.
