Call Joe Biden in Anastasiadis Akinci and to resume diiapragmatefseon

US Vice President Joe Biden called successively to the President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis and then the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci to ask them to resume talks after the Istanbul event, the first to hit the negotiation process for Cyprus.

Joe Biden called on the President of the Republic "to take the opportunity to negotiate a deal that will reunite Cyprus as a bizonal, bicommunal federation," said the White House.

"Then the vice president telephoned Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci to transmit the same message" and to urge the two men will resume talks as soon as possible.

The US vice president assured both sides "for the continuous support of the United States" in the negotiation process.

Nikos Anastasiadis negatively responded to journalists' question if it considers that Istanbul has to 'trap' when Ankara invited Mustafa Akinci at the official dinner of heads of state: "I do not accept the Republic of Cyprus downgraded in such a manner."

"Never, never before had I have thought that there would be such a good opportunity, provided that all demonstrate mutual respect", later said the president of Cyprus in a speech at a conference in Nicosia.
