The Secretary General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg said the first official meeting of NATO with Russia's envoy to the alliance for nearly two years highlighted the deep differences between East and West for the crisis in Ukraine and the future security of Europe.

"The meeting reaffirmed that disagree about the events, the narrative and the responsibilities for Ukraine," said Stoltenberg after the meeting.

"Many allies disagree when Russia tries to describe [the crisis in Ukraine] as civil war. What is happening is that Russia destabilizing eastern Ukraine, providing support to separatists, ammunition, funding, equipment, and also command and control. Also the Russian ambassador accused the US of trying to put pressure on Moscow sending a destroyer to unmanned missiles near Kaliningrad last week, warning that Russia will react, if necessary.

"It attempts to exert military pressure on Russia. We will take all necessary measures, preventive measures to counteract these attempts to use military force, "said Alexander Gkrousko.
