A hunger strike four members of Podemos

Four Spanish members of Podemos and other left-wing coalition parties began Saturday hunger strike for a week which will end with concentrations in the squares in order to raise awareness and to mobilize for refugees, announced today.

Members will terminate this symbolic protest on April 22, when inviting the Spaniards to gather for 24 hours in the squares as the Indignant movement began in May 2011, and overnight in France, but this time in show of support for refugees.

Starting point of the idea that was "the shame felt because of this EU agreement with Turkey, seeing how Europe violates our international law," he told AFP Pedro Supply of MP of Podemos from Zaragoza (northeastern Spain) who since last Saturday only drinking water with salt and sugar.

The EU-Turkey agreement mainly provides for the return to Turkey of all immigrants who entered illegally in Greece after its launch on March 20, and that for each Syros returning to Turkey, another Syrian resettled in the EU.

"We saw that initiatives have begun to flourish: a parish gathering shoes, neighbors gathered napkins for women ..." Supply of Pedro explains, calling "this outrage, this shame, to turn into action."

He said gatherings planned in ten Spanish cities, among which Madrid.

Miguel Anso Fernan Vella, elected by the regional coalition En Marea, ally of Podemos, resents the fact that Spain had promised to host 16,000 refugees and that it has not received only 18. "It is not failure, it's just hideous" he told AFP, urging Spain to honor its commitments.
