Renzo: Military intervention in Libya only to request the House
A military intervention in Libya is only possible once fulfilled all the necessary conditions, including approval by the Libyan parliament, said yesterday the Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi.
The newspaper Corriere della Sera said-citing a secret decision of Renzo, dated February 10-that 50 members of the Special Forces of the Italian army is ready to participate, together with groups of US ED, Britain and France, in operations against adjacent to the jihadist Islamic State in the territory of Libya.
"Mass media publish scenarios on an Italian war in Libya which do not correspond to reality," said Matteo Renzi, according to the ANSA news agency.
The Italian Prime Minister called to be a "balanced and long-term" solution to the instability in the country of North Africa and noted that efforts continue with the United Nations assistance to form a national unity government.
"Only then will we be able to assess, on the basis of the request of the legitimate government, the level of the Italian participation.
In any case, this will require the necessary parliamentary and organizational processes, "added Renzo, the agency said.
