Call for greater global awareness about violence against women



Violence against women is a serious problem in many countries around the world and should be addressed on a global level, said the Russian Sputnik news agency Ban Soon-Taek, wife of the Secretary General of United Nations Ban Ki-moon and founder Union UN Women for Peace.

On Friday the Union of UN Women for Peace held its annual luncheon of which is intended to raise awareness about the widespread violations of women's rights worldwide.

"The violation of women's rights is widespread. Violence against women is a very serious problem. Therefore, it is very important to be addressed on a global level. Such events are important," yesterday said Ban Soon-Taek at Sputnik.

Violence against women is a global issue. According to the head of the Association of Women United for Peace Richani Al-Nasser, almost one in five women under 15 are sexually abused, according to the Athens Press Agency.

The terrorist organization Islamic State (IK, also known by its Arabic acronym Dae) sells girls versus just 25 US dollars. Up to 2.5 million people every year are the subject of trafficking for prostitution, forced labor, slavery.
