Libya: Shipwreck with dozens missing refugees and immigrants


There are fears that dozens of refugees and migrants missing after the boat in which were aboard sank off Libya today, announced a spokesman of the navy of the country and while recorded evidence of a rapid increase in the number of people attempting the dangerous crossing from North Africa heading to Europe.

Earlier, Italian officials announced that the Coast Guard and the Navy of the country rescued 1,361 refugees today from boats and life rafts in the Southern Mediterranean.
The Libyan spokesman Agioump Kasem, said the Coast Guard stopped the course of a boat in which 120 refugees aboard off the Sabra and also rescued 32 people from the boat that sank.


It is not currently known exactly how many people are missing.
More than 16,000 people have sail precarious the Mediterranean from North Africa to Italy the first three months of 2016, about 6,000 more than the same period last year.
