Hollande "can not guarantee a happy outcome" of EU - Turkey talks
French President Francois Hollande said the early morning hours today in Brussels that can not "guarantee a happy outcome" of the talks between the European Union and Turkey on the control of migration flows. "I can not guarantee you that there will be a happy ending (of the talks) would be desirable for refugees, Europe and Turkey," said the head of the French State at the end of the first day of the European summit.
The 28 EU member states, "although there are interpretations, requirements, clarify information requested, agreed to a proposal that will now be discussed with Turkey," he said. The European partners will now present this proposal to the Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu.
"I think we are on track but we still have not reached the end," said Hollande, stating that the outcome will depend on the negotiations with Ankara and "the agreement of the 28 on the text that will emerge" from these talks. Wanting to be "very straightforward and very honest," Hollande stressed however "even if there is an agreement, even if it applies, which requires a lot through the European side", movement will continue, "if not correct the cause of the difficulties.
