Mexico: Murder mayor few hours after taking office
The newly elected mayor of Mexican city Temixko yesterday assassinated on Saturday, hours after the official took office, he announced in his Twitter posting the governor of Morelos state, Gkrako Ramirez.
According to local newspaper El Universal, the Tzizela Mota formerly senator kentroaristeras- which Friday formally took office as mayor of the city Temixko (90km south of Mexico City, with a population of about 100,000 inhabitants) was attacked in her home four armed assailants.
Later, the local police arrested two suspected perpetrators of the attack and killed in exchange of fire two more, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice of the state.
Several mayors were murdered last year in Mexico, where armed gangs financed by the drug trade, control many communities.
