Closed public schools in Los Angeles due to threats
All public schools in Los Angeles closed today after threats, said Ramon Cortina, the Head of all levels of education in Los Angeles, the second largest US educational region size, attended by 640,000 students from kindergarten up to the high schools.
"This morning shortly after 05.00 local time called me" the police chief responsible for the schools sector and "spoke of a threat not only a school, but many 'school clusters in Los Angeles, said Cortina in during a press conference.
The authorities conduct investigations into all schools in the city-more than 1,200 in number - and asked parents not to take their children to school in order to facilitate investigations.
It is the first time in at least 10 years that the authorities decide to suspend the operation of schools in an educational whole region, officials note.
