Azerbaijan: Fire at oil rig - 30 missing
Thirty workers in burning oil rig in the Caspian Sea are ignored, announced the company Socar, the state energy company of Azerbaijan.
The company published its website a list of names of 30 missing and 32 rescued. The Presidency had announced earlier that the fire was caused by a storm which caused damage to a pipe and that a man was killed.
The company had announced earlier that 29 workers were removed safely from the burning rig, but denied that there are dead or missing.
The Socar announced yesterday that a conductor rig caught fire and was damaged due to strong winds.
Earlier, while rescue operations were underway, the Misvari Gkachramanli, head of the Commission for Protection of Rights of Workers of Oil Sector stated that "according to reports, 32 workers have lost their lives and 42 were rescued during yesterday night. "
