FYROM: Fence at the border with Greece, though ...

If European countries reduce the number of refugees they accept, then Macedonia will proceed with the construction of a wire fence along parts of the border with Greece.

This decision was reached by the Security Council of the country which met Saturday night to discuss the security situation in the country following the terrorist attacks in Paris and refugee flows.

The Macedonian Security Council even instructed the country's military to immediately begin all the preparations for cleaning and preparing the ground at the border of the possibility of manufacturing fence.

In a related announcement neighbors Security Council, inter alia, that such a barrier would not be aimed at closing the border, despite the lowering of refugee flows, according to the number of refugees and immigrants that European countries will accept to which they are directed .

In the communication, according to the Athens agency added that such a step (fence construction) will be the last resort for FYROM and only applied where European countries limit the number of refugees and migrants to admit.

Restrictions on refugee flows from European countries could bring Macedonia faced with the serious problem of longer stay uncontrolled numbers of refugees and migrants in its territory, which would exceed the capabilities of the country, even mentioned in the notice.

The Security Council convened by President Gjorge Ivanov and even participated in the meeting, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, the President of the Parliament, Ministers of Defence and Interior and the head of the armed forces of FYROM.

Refugees and immigrants entering the country mainly from the neutral zone at the height Idomeni-Gevgelija and nearly all are directed immediately to the border with Serbia.
