FAZ: Agreement in principle between Turkey and EU refugee
EU and Turkey have agreed in principle on an action plan that aims to stem the tide of immigrants and refugees to Europe, says the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.
Under the plan, Turkey will have to accept to increase its efforts in order to insure its borders with the EU taking part in joint patrols with the Greek coastguard in the eastern part of the Aegean, which (patrols) coordinated by the European Supervisory Service the Frontex border, according to the German newspaper, the publication of which is claimed by the AFP.
Immigrants who are arrested will be driven back to Turkey, which will be built and co-financed by the EU six new camps that can accommodate up to two million people, according to the newspaper.
For their part, EU countries should agree to host up to 500,000 people to enable them to reach Europe by sea in total safety, without resorting to smugglers, always according to the newspaper, which cites sources from the European Commission and German sources.
