The texts of the technical agreement between the Greek authorities and institutional representatives of the lenders to the new program for the Greek economy delivered by the European Commission to the Council of Ministers of the eurozone, and is currently the subject of consultations between the presidents of both organs Jean Claude Juncker and Jeroen Dijsselbloem. This was stated today by the Brussels representative of the Commission, noting that now, what happens next is up to the euro area Member States.
The spokesman noted that on the upcoming financing of Greece, in view of settlement -on 20 August-loans from the European Central Bank remains likely as the funding of the ESM mechanism with long payback horizon and on the basis of the new agreement, and by the mechanism EFSM, with the short term. The spokesman said that it is for the euro area Member States to decide on the procedure to be followed, noting, however, that as stated by Jean-Claude Juncker preferable is the first process, namely the ESM on the basis of the new program.
Finally, the representative stated that the Commission will be represented at tomorrow's Eurogroup by the deputy Valdis Dombrovskis.
