Putin: Arrogant attitude of the British government
H historic decision of the British public for the withdrawal of their country from the European Union due to the "superficial and arrogant attitude" that kept the British government that organized the referendum, said today the president of Russia Vladimir Putin.
"The holding of this referendum and its results are not due to anything; other than the superficial and arrogant attitude of the British authorities towards issues crucial to the country and the whole of Europe "stressed Putin, reported the news agency TASS.
The impact of this vote will be "global," said the head of the Russian State stating we should wait to see if it is more positive or more negative.
Regarding the sanctions the European Union has imposed on Russia because of the Ukrainian crisis, "I do not believe that this could potentially affect our relations with the European Union in this field," added Putin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov his part said he hoped that the Brexit will allow an improvement of relations between Britain and Russia.
"We hope that in this new reality, the need to build good relations will prevail," Mr. Peskov told reporters, while noting that regrets "that does not see a willingness to cooperate on the part of our British partners."
"The European Union is a major economic partner of Russia, so just Moscow has an interest in the European Union to remain a prosperous, stable and predictable economy," he added.
